Type 1907 Heater Cars (Wheelbase 4,500)
They entered service between 1907 and 1908 to supplement the heating provided by the locomotives and also to warm the trains before they were coupled to the locomotive. They were built in Savigliano following three orders; the first in 1907, the second in 1913, and the last in 1915, forming a group of 30 units (Vr 808 000-029). They were actual freight cars with wooden bodies and a vertical boiler inside that held approximately 1,500 kg of water, producing 2,000 kg of dry steam per hour. The crew worked in extremely uncomfortable conditions since the interior space was very limited, which is why larger reheating cars began appearing as early as 1925.
We decided to create two versions of the Vr 808: the one from the very first years of service, as it left the factory and classified as Vir c 808, and the one set immediately after 1945.
The underside of the wagon is the same in both versions and we have reproduced the brake linkage, the studded bottom of the boiler and the battery box.
In all the wagons and carriages we've built to date, the axle ends are housed in CNC-turned brass cups, making the vehicle run very smoothly on the tracks. Furthermore, a model coupling can be fitted to a standard NEM362 hook carrier, provided the pipes on the track beam are removed.
