LOCOMOTIVE E 220

A small locomotive with an incredible history: the only example ever built, photographed only once in the 1920s, and then taken to Austria by the Germans during World War II as spoils of war. All trace of this vehicle had been lost, but in 1961, a second photograph was discovered, showing it abandoned and awaiting demolition. We are the first to have created this rarity in perfect 1:87 scale.

The model is entirely made of metal, but we were forced to make the motorization from ABS because turning the brass block would have required complex machining. Indeed, if we look at the model's profile, it's clear that the vehicle has a completely open underbody area, and a traditional motorization would be too conspicuous. We therefore created two ABS shells that enclose a five-pole motor, with cascade gears that transmit power to both axles.
